He was born Jan. 23, 1925 in Portland and moved to The Dalles in 1936 and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1943. He joined the U.S. Navy and served as a corpsman for three years, mostly in China. He married Mary Jeanne Schwab on Aug. 31, 1946 at St. Mary’s Church in Mt. Angel. He went to work at the U.S. Bank then moved to Portland, transferred to Redmond in 1973 and then moved back to Portland in 1983 where he retired in 1985 after 39 years of service. He enjoyed model railroading and gardening. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne, Sherwood; a daughter, Sandra, Hillsboro; a son, Terry and his wife, Laurel, Portland; a sister, Marilyn Ciranny, The Dalles. He was preceded in death by his parents, A. J. “Ollie” and Emma Zodrow and a sister, Evelyn Macnab. He suffered a stroke in 2001 and lived at a nursing home in Beaverton, where a memorial mass has been held. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
