He was born Aug. 8, 1921 in Charlston, Kan. He worked for SP&S and Burlington Northern Railroad for 35 years. He was a member of the Elks, Moose and American Legion and was as World War II Navy Air Veteran. Survivors include his wife, Frances, Washougal; a daughter, Chloe (Bunny) Walters, Wishram; two stepdaughters, Mary Marchbank, Houston, Texas, and Lynne Bennett, Camas, Wash.; two sons, Marlin Zable, Lemoor, Calif. and Darrell Zable, Wasillia, Alaska; two stepsons, David Marchbank, Los Angeles, and John Marchbank, San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Dorene McCarthy, Spokane; two brothers, Harold Zable, Camas; and Kenneth Zable, Phoenix, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Silva; a brother Doyle and a stepson, Charles. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m. at Cascade Park Elks No. 823, 11605 SE McGillivary Blvd., Vancouver, Wash. Browns Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
