Surnames: Yonish, Proctor, Nolan, Gressett, Johnson, Maribella, Parkinson, Perkins Ronald L. Yonish, 70, a long time resident of The Dalles, died Wednesday March 5, 2003 at his home following an extended illness. He was born August 30, 1932 in Hood River, the only child of Mosier (Oregon) residents Marion H. and Florence Georgina (Proctor) Yonish. The family moved to The Dalles two years later and he grew up here, graduating from The Dalles High School in the class of 1950. He was an avid baseball player and played on the city league. He joined the United States Air Force in 1951 and served on the island of Okinawa as a medic during the Korean conflict. Returning to The Dalles, he owned and operated Ron's Auto Body for many years before declining health forced his semiretirement in 1995. He married Sharon R. Nolan in The Dalles on New Year's Eve in 1978. He enjoyed camping and hiking, woodworking projects, and was a private pilot for 25 years. He had been a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, the American Legion, and was a 40-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, serving on the Board of Trustees and for many years as the Treasurer of Aerie No. 2126. He is survived by his wife Sharon, and by his daughters and their families: Rhonda and Steve Gressett, Medford (Oregon); Cindy and Steve Johnson, The Dalles; Sara Maribella, Beaverton (Oregon); and Vicky and David Parkinson, Vancouver (Washington); sons and their families, Tim and Beth Perkins, Vancouver and Aaron and Heather Perkins, Gresham (Oregon); seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held at The Dalles Eagles Lodge on Saturday, March 15, at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shrine Hospital for Children, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, Oregon 97201 or to the Hospice of The Gorge, 751 Myrtle Street, The Dalles, Oregon 97058. Arrangements were by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
