Surnames: Wylie Weir, Sorenson, Evelyn Leota Wylie, 72, a resident of Arlington (Oregon), died at the local hospital in The Dalles, on Friday, April 11, 2003. She was born September 27, 1930, in Aitkin County, Minnesota, the older of two children to Walter and Bessie (Weir) Sorenson. She grew up in Minnesota, and then moved to Eugene, Oregon, in the 1940's. She married Robert Oliver Wylie in November 1955, in Virginia City, Nevada and they lived in Albany (Oregon) and Corvallis (Oregon) before settling in Arlington in 1978, where they bought Terrace Heights Trailer Court. She began a long working career as a telephone operator in Astoria (Oregon). After her marriage, she drove school bus in Corvallis, and then worked for the Arlington school district as a school custodian and bus driver. She served 3 terms on the Arlington City Council and enjoyed homemaking, watching television, word puzzles, newspapers, her computer and trips to Reno (Nevada). Survivors include her husband, Robert "Bob" Wylie, Arlington; her sons and their wives, Robert A. and Rene Wylie, Tumalo (Oregon) and Scott A. and Marilyn Wylie, Hermiston (Oregon) and grandchildren, Robert C. and Monica. At her request no public services will be held. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Smith Callaway Chapel in care of arrangements. In lieu of flowers or donations, her family would ask her friends and acquaintances to always carry a good thought of her memory.
