Wakley iwakley@msn.com April 28, 2006, 12:52 am The Dalles Weekly Reminder, November 3, 1983 James Madison Wray, 77, the former part-owner of Wray's Drugs in The Dalles, died Oct. 13 at his Madras residence. He was born June 24, 1906. Mr. Wray graduated from Western Dental and Pharmacy College in Portland in 1932 and received the prescription medal for high grades, as well as membership in the National Pharmacy Honor Society. From 1940 to 1953 he was part-owner of Wray's Drugs in The Dalles. He married Ruby Alma Gross July 31, 1948 in Pendleton and they moved to Madras in 1953 where he owned and operated the pharmcy from 1953 to 1962 when they moved to Portland. He returned to Madras in 1974 and worked part time for a drug store, Mountain View Hospital and the Warm Springs Clinic. Survivors include his wife, Ruby, Madras; two daughtesr, Karen Collier, Bakersfield, Calif.; and Raynette Lawrence, Portland; three sons, Raoul and Darryl Wray, Portland; and Rudell Wray, Victoria, Tex.; a sister, Maggie Snodgrass, Maupin; 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Oct. 15 in Madras and burial was at Mt. Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery.
