Wakley iwakley@msn.com June 2, 2006, 1:19 am The Dalles Chronicle, April 12, 2006 Jack Micheal Wood Sr., 74, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local care facility Monday, April 10, 2006. He was born in Peoria, Ill., on Oct. 6, 1931, the older of two sons to John and Winifred (Hatfield) Wood. He grew up in Portland, where he graduated from Roosevelt High School. After high school he joined the U.S. Coast Guard, becoming a master chief boat swain mate with search and rescue, retiring after 22 years. He married Birdie Glea Horton in Portland, in January 1949. He was a third-degree Master Mason. He enjoyed his family, woodworking and fishing. He is survived by his son, Jack Wood and his wife Kathy, Sherwood; his daughters, Paula Brunt and her husband Bill, The Dalles; and Judi McCleary and her husband Doug, The Dalles; six grandchildren, Micheal Lee Tolva, Eagle Creek; Jack Micheal Wood III, Grants Pass; Travis Aerni, Albany; Ryan Wood, Sherwood; Taylor Brunt, The Dalles; and Shelbi Wood, Sherwood; and six great- grand children. He was preceded in death by his wife Birdie Wood. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2006 at 1 p.m. at IOOF Three Mile Cemetery, 2565 Three Mile Rd., The Dalles. The Dalles Win-Quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
