She was born Dec. 12, 1929, in Winlock, Wash., the youngest of three children to Ed and Ruth (Smith) Jones. The family moved to Wamic in 1933, where she was raised and attended school. She married Harland "Fooey" Woodside on Dec. 25, 1947 in Wamic and then graduated from Maupin High School in 1948. She was a founding member of the South Wasco Co. Volunteer Ambulance and Maupin Area Chamber of Commerce. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Maupin and her hobbies included: playing cards, board games, bingo, painting, coin collecting, puzzles, traveling, cooking and gardening. She was an infamous apple pie baker and master gardener, and was active in many community events. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harland "Fooey" Woodside, Maupin; two daughters, Pam Ashley and her husband, Bob, Tygh Valley, and Virginia Fuller, Maupin; her son, Rodney Woodside and his wife, Regina, Maupin; five grandchildren, Carol Rager, Michelle Davis, Shelby Woodside, Justin Ashley and Ashley Woodside; four great-grandchildren, Laurynn and Madisen Davis and Ellis and Noel Rager; her sister, Nita Regnier, Prineville. She was preceded in death by her father, Ed Jones; mother; Ruth Smith McDonald and her sister, Leona Bothwell. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, March 20, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Maupin Grade School Gym, with a reception to follow. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Memorials may be made to South Wasco Co.
