Lorraine “Dixie” S. Woodside, 88, a resident of The Dalles and a former 
resident of Wapinitia, died at a local care center on July 15, 1995.

She was born March 18, 1907 in Philomath, the eldest of three children to 
Lawrence and Bertha (McFarland) Stovall.  She moved with her family to Maupin 
in 1914.

She graduated from Maupin High School and attended Oregon Normal School in 
Monmouth for two years.  She taught for a year at the Wapinitia School.

She married Lloyd Truman Woodside in The Dalles on Dec. 27, 1926.  They 
ranched in Wapinitia area until retiring to The Dalles in the early 1980s.

She was a homemaker, a member of CowBelles and enjoyed camping and traveling.

Survivors include a son, Scott, and his wife, Carlotta Woodside, Maupin; 
daughters, Lorita “Skip” and her husband, Charles Dunlap, Safford, Ariz.; and 
Mickey and her husband, Herb Snodgrass, Maupin; granddaughters, Margaret 
Holmes Lupi, Simi Valley, Calif.; Dixie Bergin and Lisa Woodside, The Dalles; 
Molly Holmes, Portland; Shelly Dean, Troutdale; and Kassie Trepp, of Boring; 
grandsons, Brad Snodgrass, Canby, and Randy Snodgrass, Billings, Mont., and 
nine great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at Kelly Cemetery near Maupin at 11 a.m. on 
Thursday, July 20.

Memorials may be made to Juniper Flat Fire Dept., sent in care of Spencer, 
Libby & Powell Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Ave., The Dalles, OR 97058.
