Surnames: Woodside, Fowler, Hayworth, Smith, Allison, Cox, LaDoux Gladys Woodside, 92, a resident of The Dalles, died Sunday, May 4, 2003 at the local hospital. She was born February 13, 1911 in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada, the fourth of nine children to Albert Elmer and Pluma (Fowler) Hayworth and the family moved to the United States when she was a small child. She grew up in Mosier (Oregon) and attended school there. She married Albert M. Woodside in The Dalles in June of 1930; they were later divorced. She worked as a riveter in a Portland shipyard during WWII before attending beauty college and becoming a licensed beautician. She owned and operated several beauty salons, including Hilltop Beauty Salon in The Dalles before retiring. She enjoyed gardening as well as crocheting and knitting, and attended Calvary Baptist Church in The Dalles. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pluma Jean and Claude Smith, The Dalles; her brother, Aaron Hayworth, Milton-Freewater (Oregon); her sister, Winnie Frances Allison, The Dalles; her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Linda Marie and Jerry Cox of Emmett, Idaho and great-grandchildren Cassandra LaDoux, Boise (Idaho) and Jeremy LaDoux, Eugene (Oregon). She was preceded in death by an infant son and six siblings. Graveside services in celebration of her life were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, with Pastor Steve Anabel presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 3350 Columbia View Drive, The Dalles, Oregon 97058. Arrangements were by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
