     Betty R. (Gertson) Wolff, 72, a former resident of The Dalles, died in 
Salem on Dec. 18, 2004.
     She was born Nov. 8, 1932 in Eagle Lake, Texas, to Peter Daniel and 
Temperance Elizabeth (Hutchins) Gertson and grew up in Lissie, Texas.
     She married Clarence H. Wolff on Dec. 23, 1950 and in 1952 moved to 
Brazoria, Texas. Ten years and three children later they moved to The Dalles, 
where they remained until 1977, when they moved to Salem.
     True to her early desire to work in the medical field, she worked for the 
Oregon Department of Mental Health for 38 years and was an advocate for the 
residents of Columbia Park Training Center in The Dalles and Fairview Training 
Center in Salem.
     She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she 
served as a Stevens Ministry leader. After retiring she enjoyed endless hours 
of gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
     Survivors include her husband, Clarence; sons, Michael and Donald Wolff; 
a daughter, Temperance (Wolff) Dixon, Salem; brothers and sister-in-law, Dan 
and Maryan Gertson and Boyce and Carolyn Gertson, Lissie; six grandchildren, 
six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
     She was preceded in death by her father, mother and stepmother, Katie 
Gertson; and a sister, Ruby (Gertson) Sheridan.
     A celebration of her life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church 
on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer 
Foundation.
