Wakley iwakley@msn.com December 5, 2006, 11:38 am The Dalles Weekly Reminder, September 6, 1984 Mark G. Wilson, 46, and his son, Brian Dale, 12, died in an airplane crash near The Dalles Saturday. Services were Wednesday at the Mosier School. Both were lifetime residents of Mosier. Mark was born Aug. 9, 1938 at The Dalles and Brian was born Jan. 18, 1972 at The Dalles. Survivors include Marilyn, wife and mother; Nancy, daughter and sister, Grant Wilson, brother and uncle. Additionally, Mark survived by a niece and nephew, aunt, uncle and cousin. Brian is also survived by his grandparents, Earl and Alice Peck, an uncle, Lyle Peck, his aunt, Janet Meyers. Following the services at the school, committal in the Mosier Cemetery under the direction of Smith Callaway Chapel. Officiating at the services was Dr. James Hazlett, Gateway Presbyterian Church. Speakers included Claude Berthold and Jack Thienes. Brian and his father were both members of the Oregon Flying Farmers. The Wilson families were recipients of the 1983 farmer of the year award presented at the annual Community Service Awards banquet in The Dalles. Mark was a member of the PCA-Federal Land Bank, a member of the District 9 School Board, a member of The Dalles Cherry Growers Cooperative board, a member of the Mosier Grange and of the Hood River Elks Lodge. Serving as casket bearers for Brian were Mike Kaplan, Daniel Rubio, Pete Heda, Jose Sanchez, Bob and Bill Veatch. Casketbearers for Mark were Mel Parker, Don Evans, Glen Cutler, Tom Proctor, Claude and Ron Berthold. Honorary bearers were Bud Jones, Ken Hudson, Jack Thienes, Bob Thompson, Don Bailey and Jim Wilcox. The family has suggested that those who wish may contribute to the Mark and Brian Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of the District 9 Superintendent of Schools, 3622 W. 10th St., The Dalles, Ore., 97058.
