Surnames: Wilson, Butler, Lamkin, Carrell, Miller, Norcum James Ellsworth Wilson, 87, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local care center on Thursday, October 31, 2002. He was born January 13, 1915, in Mountain Air, New Mexico, to Joseph G. and Ellen (Butler) Wilson. He married Alma "Billie" Rose Lamkin on September 2, 1932, in Amarillo, Texas. They moved to Hemet, California in the early 1930s, to Modesto, California in the mid 1940s and settled in The Dalles in 1957. He worked at Harvey Aluminum briefly, and then worked in the timber industry as a logger and later as a timber buyer. He was a member of Covenant Christian Community and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and his family. He is survived by his children, Bud Wilson and Ellen Miller, The Dalles; John Wilson, Wichita, Kansas; and Christine Carrell, Gresham (Oregon); 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie, in December 2001 and a daughter, Elnora "Rosemary" Norcum in July 1998. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, at The Dalles Covenant Christian Community Church. Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, November 6, with private interment at The Dalles Parklawn Cemetery.
