The Dalles Chronicle, September 8, 2004
     Lynn B. Williams, 60, a resident of Lyle, died of a sudden infection on 
Sept. 1, 2004, at a Portland hospital.
     He was born Jan. 11, 1944 in Omak, Wash. He was raised in the Molson-
Chesaw, Orville, Wash., area and graduated from Orville High School in 1962.
He received his bachelor’s degree in education at Eastern Washington State 
University in Cheney, 
     He married LaVena Moore and they made their first home in married student 
housing in Cheney while finishing his college education.
     They moved to Lyle in 1967. They were longtime members of the Lyle United 
Methodist Church, where he was an active board member. For the last 15 years 
they attended Gateway Presbyterian in The Dalles. 
     He taught middle school math and science for seven years in Lyle. Then 
for 23 years in Klickitat he taught various grade levels, art and photography, 
advised the year book, coached track and basketball and refereed volleyball.
He was well known for his years of running the clock and announcing at 
basketball games and Lyle-Klickitat-Wishram football games.
     He enjoyed reading and continuing to learn, kept connected with many 
friends in daily e-mails, had a passion for fishing and took many children on 
their first fishing trips. 
     He retired from teaching in 1997 and shortly thereafter was diagnosed 
with cancer.
     He is survived by his wife of 40 years, LaVena; his son and daughter-in-
law, Terry and Tammy Williams; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Brian 
Erickson; his mother, Ruby Sherling, Orville; his sister and brother-in-law, 
Darlene and Henry Allen, Spokane; his brother, David Partlow, Omak; and 
stepsister Tracy, Tonasket, Wash.; grandchildren Randi Jo and Jessica 
Erickson, and Joe and Tristan Williams; several nieces and nephews, aunts and 
uncles, cousins and many students, colleagues and friends.
     Service notices will be posted this week at the Lyle and Dallesport post 
offices.
