     Josie Belle Whitesell, 63, a resident of Rowena, died at her home on 
Tuesday, June 20, 2006.

     She was born Aug. 26, 1942 in Hood River, to Metron Hawthorn and Mary 
Etta (Mayfield) Meyers.

     She moved first to Tygh Valley, then to The Dalles, where she married 
Frank Marion Whitesell in 1960.

     She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, working on her yard and flowers, 
visiting with people, and playing games and puzzles.

     She is survived by her husband, Frank Marion Whitesell; her sons, Frank 
Allen Whitesell, The Dalles; Joe Lester Whitesell, and his wife Edna Louise, 
Rowena; her grandchildren, Tracie Mullin, Carole Ruise, Yolanda Whitesell, 
Joseph Riley Whitesell, and Adam Robert Whitesell; her great-grandchildren 
Nicholaus Mullin, Mikkaela Ruise, Nathaniel Ruise, Chandler Miller, and Rylie 
Miller; her sisters, Lura Ellen Skinner, Quiteque, Texas; Lila Mary Cochran, 
Parkdale; Beverley Gay Stewart, Terrebonne; Carol Lee Webb, Tygh Valley; Majel 
Anna Deel, Portland; and her brother, Jesse Ivan Meyers, Tygh Valley.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Merton Elmore Meyers, 
Gilbert Henry Meyers, and Glen Ellis Meyers; and her sisters, Vivian Jean 
Meyers, and Mildred Inna Essen.

     Memorial services will be held Friday, June 23, at 2 p.m. at Spencer, 
Libby & Powell Funeral Home’s Chapel, which is in care of the arrangements.
