The Dalles Weekly Reminder, September 15, 1983
     Wilbur L. West, 81, a resident of Dufur since 1939, died Friday at the 
local hospital.
     He was born July 26, 1902 at Rock Creek.
     Mr. West farmed in the Arlington area until 1939, then moved to Dufur, 
where he purchased a farm and also worked in the Dufur and Tygh Valley mills.  
He later drove bus for Dufur School until retirement in 1969.
     He was a member of Ramsey Park Grange.
     Survivors include his wife, Charlotte, Dufur; a daughter, Sharon 
Sorenson, Klamath Falls; two grandchildren, Shelly and Shawn Sorenson, Klamath 
Falls; three brothers, Alvin and Virgil West, both of The Dalles, and Melvin 
West, John Day; a sister Edith, Rock Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
     Funeral services were Tuesday at Smith Callaway Chapel with Pastor Asa 
Jenson officiating.  Private burial followed at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery.
     Memorials are suggested to Dufur Ambulance Fund or other charities.
