She was born into an Oregon pioneer family on June 25, 1911 in Live Oak, Calif. Her parents were Lila Pearl (Ross) and Willis Josiah West. As a child, she lived in Seaside and Portland. She graduated from Girls Poly Tech and the School of Commerce (now Cleveland High School) in Portland. On July 10, 1937, she married the love of her life, Arthur Kaser, at the White Temple Baptist Church (now First Baptist) in Portland. His work as a mechanical engineer took them to Ohio, Iowa, and Virginia. They enjoyed camping, hiking, and exploring historical sites. She was a hostess who loved to entertain in her home. The couple returned to Portland in 1968 to be near family. They were members of the Tabor Heights United Methodist Church. She and Arthur were married for 44 years before Art died in 1981. She continued her enjoyment of league bowling, and she won many trophies. She was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers, and she spent time researching the history of her grandparents, the West and Harrison families. Her goal since high school was to gain employment as a stenographer, and she took classes in typing, dictation, and filing. She was employed as an executive secretary at the Oregon Bank, where she received the Presidents Award for outstanding achievement. She previously worked for a sales department, other banks, and as a secretary in a college English department. She was also an accomplished seamstress and had an eye for detail. She is survived by seven nieces and nephews, as well as their husbands and grandchildren: Kathryn (Kaser) and Nicholas Dodge, Portland; Carolyn (Kaser) and Bob Fairman, Beaverton; Dolores (Pfahl) and Michael Harris, Henderson, Nev.; Dianne Weston (West), Aloha; Helen Trammell (West), Tillamook; Ted Kaser, Henderson, Nev.; and Robert Kaser, Corvallis.
