Wakley iwakley@msn.com and August 3, 2006, 12:32 am The Dalles Chronicle, April 28, 2006 Joseph “Joe” Norman Weber, 65, a resident of Moro, died at his residence Wednesday, May 10, 2006. He was born in New Salem, Mich., on July 14, 1940, the second of eleven children to Norman John and Agnes Flora (Vogt) Weber. He grew up in Michigan and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Grand Rapids. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 - 1964, and then settled in Oregon to work highway maintenance for the Oregon State Department of Transportation. He worked all over the state including Madras, Klamath Falls, The Dalles, Umatilla, Hood River, Mt. Hood and the Mid Columbia area. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and also attended Moro Community Church. He was a member of the Sherman County Historical Society and was a “historian without a degree.” He enjoyed reading, studying history, traveling and volunteering at various museums and historical sites. He is survived by his wife, Sheila May (Denley) Weber, whom he married on Dec. 19, 1969, in The Dalles; his step-son and his wife, Kip and Paige (Walker) Lindley and their daughters, Charlotte and Emma, all of Aloha; his daughter, Regina Kay Taylor and her sons, Patrick, Benjamin and Daniel, all of Pendleton; his father and step mother, Norman and Waneta Weber, Tucson, Ariz.; his siblings and their spouses, Betty Weber, Wyoming; Larry and Sandra Weber, Florence, Ariz.; Don and Pauline Weber, Floral Vista, N.M.; Lenore Nowak, Florence, Ariz.; Carolyn and David Zinger, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Alma and Wayne Meeusen, Superior, Colo.; Karl and Barbara Weber, Baldwyn, Mich.; Colett Weber, Florence; Phillip Weber, Grand Rapids, Mich.; and Peter and Connie Weber, Dorr, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes. Viewing visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home from 2 p.m. through recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial and funeral service will be held at the Grass Valley Grade School Gym with Fr. John Vogl and Rev. Robert Stone officiating. Interment will follow at the Moro Community Cemetery with a “Celebration of Life” at Moro Presbyterian Church to follow.
