Wakley iwakley@msn.com May 7, 2006, 10:24 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, June 9, 1983 Leo Cline Watkins, 75, a lifelong resident and farmer of the Wasco Area, died June 1 at the hospital. He was born Oct. 1, 1907 in Walla Walla, Wash. He was a member of Grass Valley Lodge No. 131 of the IOOF for 45 years and also a member of the Grass Valley Rebekah's No. 118; the Inland Encampment of The Dalles No. 57; Patriarch's Militant No. 1 of Portland; Neighbors of Woodcraft, the Oregon Wheat League, the Oregon Cattlemen's Association and The Dalles Eagles. Survivors other than his wife include two daughters, Joanne Buck, Moro, Judy Smith, Dayton, Wash.; two sons, Eugene Gosson, Portland, and Donald Watkins, Madras; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a brother, Arthur Watkins, The Dalles, and a niece, Delores Parish, Lincoln City. Three older brothers, Vinton, Chester and Oscar, preceded him in death. Funeral services were June 4 at the Wasco Church of Christ with the Rev. Roy Biggs officiating. Graveside rites were at Wasco Sunrise Cemetery under the auspices of the IOOF Lodge. Memorials are suggested to the IOOF Home in care of Smith Callaway Chapel, or to a favorite charity.
