Wakley iwakley@msn.com December 5, 2006, 8:05 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, August 23, 1984 Earl Warzynski, chairman of the Columbia River Gorge Commission, died in a Salem hospital Friday. He was 64. Warzynski lived in The Dalles where he was superintendent of the plant at Columbia Park Hospital until after the hospital closed and was sold at Judson Baptist College. He transferred to MacLaren School where he was plant superintendent. While here, Warzynski was active in the Wasco County Democratic Central Committee and served as its chairman. Warzynski was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., May 4, 1920 and moved to The Dalles in 1949 and went to work for the hospital. He served on the Woodburn Parks and Recreation Committee, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was in the Army Air Force in WWII. He is survived by his wife Lillian, Woodburn; two sons: John, Salem; and Stephen, Portland; three daughters: Barbara Lauritsen, Hood River; Janet Greenwell, Salem; and Colleen Aaker, Portland; two grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Felix and Nancy Long, both in Pittsburgh, and a brother, Donald Warson, Pittsburgh. Memorial services were held Monday, at the Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn. The burial was private. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
