The Dalles Weekly Reminder,  March 13, 1987
     Wilbur Lawrence Wardwell, 72, died in The Dalles March 3.  He was a 
resident of The Dalles for 32 years.
     Mr. Wardwell was born April 4, 1914 at Wynnewood, Okla.  He was a member 
of the Teamster's Local #83.
     He is survived by his wife, Frances Wardwell of The Dalles; five 
daughters, Earlene Cruther of Lewiston, Ida., Sue Wheatley of Culdesac, Ida., 
Betty Stricker of Astoria, Wilma Rasmussen and Sharron Wardwell, both of The 
Dalles; three brothers, Harvel and Devon Wardwell of Portland and Billy 
Wardwell of California; four sisters, Viola Gibbs of New Mexico, Ruth Wardwell 
of Oklahoma, Annie Arter and Florence Olson of California; 14 grandchildren 
and 14 great-grandchildren.
     Funeral services were held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home with 
Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating, followed by interment at The Dalles Odd 
Fellows Cemetery.
