The Dalles Weekly Reminder, September 15, 1983
     Helen Ruby Walters, 53, a lifelong resident of the Maupin area, died 
Friday at a Portland hospital following an extended illness.
     She was born Nov. 19, 1929 in The Dalles.
     Mrs. Walters was a member of the Pine Grove Community Club and operated 
Walters' Corner Store on Juniper Flats for the last 10 years.
     Survivors include her husband, Lester; a son, Eugene, and a daughter, 
Mrs. Harold (Nancy) Carter, all of Maupin.
     Graveside services were Monday at Kelly Cemetery.
     Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
     Memorials are suggested to the Kidney Association of Oregon.
