He was born April 20, 1922, in Oklahoma, raised in San Diego, and entered the U.S. Navy in 1940. He was discharged in 1962 as a Chief Boiler Technician. He married Florence Margaret Nagel on Sept. 12, 1944 in Seattle and after his discharge from the service, they lived in San Diego. In 1979, they moved to The Dalles, which was Florence’s home town. He worked at the aluminum plant as a security guard and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and working on the family farm. He is survived by his son, Don Walls and his wife, Jackie, La Crescenta, Calif.; his daughter, Sandy Ross and her husband, Johnny, Slayden, Miss.; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert Walls, Bakersfield, Calif.; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence M. Walls in Feb. 2002, and three brothers. Graveside services will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery on Cherry Heights Road on Monday, Aug. 9, 2004 at 11 a.m. with Asa Jenson officiating. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home is in care of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to The Dalles Senior Center, 1112 West 9th Street, The Dalles, OR 97058.
