     Harvey Howard “Bill” Wall, 85, died in in Hood River on July 18, 2006.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1921, in Wapinitia to Samuel F. and Salina M. (Paquet) 
Wall.

     He graduated from Wapinitia High School in 1938, joined the CCC’s and 
worked on projects in Alaska and Oregon. He served in the US Navy in the 
Pacific Theatre during WW II, 1942-46, as a gunner on the SS Lew Wallace.

     In 1947, he married Jeanne Marie Turner Holgate and they lived in Maupin 
from 1951 to 1982. He was custodian at Maupin Grade School for 26 years.

     They then retired to Madras to enjoy golf and traveling.

     He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne in 1992, and his brothers 
Norbet and Marvin.

     He is survived by his son Frank and daughter-in-law Marilyn and 
grandchildren Wyatt, Huntington Beach, Calif.; Sweyn, Enterprise; Dori, San 
Jose, Calif.; and Ben, Charleston, S.C.

     A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, Aug. 5, 9:30 a.m., at the 
Maupin Legion Hall.

     Memorial donations may be sent to South Wasco County H.S. Booster Club, 
PO Box 347, Maupin, OR 97037.
