The Dalles Chronicle, August 21,  2006
     Christine H. Walker, 90, The Dalles, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at a 
local care facility.

     She was born Augusta Lizzie Christine on Feb. 28, 1916, in Wasco, the 
only child to Dr. William and Augusta M. (Anderson) Huckin.

     She grew up in Wasco, Portland, and The Dalles, and she earned her 
bachelor’s degree in economics from Washington State College, where she was a 
member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honorary Society. 

     A farmland owner, she married Murray Graham Walker (whom she divorced in 
1965) on Aug. 12, 1939 in Wasco. She lived in The Dalles for 33 years. She 
enjoyed golf, bridge, reading, knitting, and loved all cats.

     She is survived by her son James M. Walker, Vancouver, Wash. She was 
preceded in death by her parents.

     A private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-Quatt Crematory with 
Spencer, Libby, and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

     Memorials may be sent to Cat Link, the Oregon Humane Society, and The 
Oregon Zoo.
