Wakley iwakley@msn.com December 28, 2006, 4:53 pm The Dalles Chronicle, June 13, 2006 Connie Wageman, 80, a resident of The Dalles, died from lung cancer June 2, 2006, at her home. She was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Dubois, Idaho, to Henry and Fern (Lipe) Simpson. Her parents named her Henrietta Fern. They divorced when she was about 4 years old. Her mother later married Charles Miller who adopted Connie Wageman. They moved to Filer, Idaho in the early 1930s, where she attended school through seventh grade. She and her mother moved to Twin Falls, Idaho in 1939. When she was a sophomore in high school, she changed her name to Connie. She graduated from high school in 1943. She married Kenneth Brown in 1944 and they moved frequently in Idaho, Montana and Utah. They were divorced after 15 years of marriage. She then married Henry (Hank) Wageman. The couple moved to The Dalles in 1966. Most of her life, she worked in the bookkeeping field. She worked for KODL for 12 years and at Rooper, Onstott & Broehl for 14 years. She loved visiting family and friends and taking pictures. Survivors include her children, Larry and Carol Brown, Judy and Robert Payne, Dennis and Linda Moon, Randy Brown, Grand and Brenda Wageman, Gary and Lorie Wageman; her step-children Glen and Penny Wageman, Henry and Darlene Wageman, Roger and Rosie Wageman; half-brother John Simpson; half-sister Monica Orr; sisters-in-law Minnie Wageman, Bonnie Wageman, Maggie Wageman and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Roger Dean Brown, half-sister Natalie Sergent, half-brother Tom Simpson and her husband Hank Wageman. By her request, no service will be held. Donations can be made to Hospice of the Gorge in memory of Connie Wageman.
