Surnames: Wadkins, Moran, Garett, Stanley, Diehl, Cunningham Betty E. Wadkins, 72, a resident of Irrigon (Oregon), died on April 9, 2003 at the hospital in Hermiston (Oregon). She was born March 5, 1931 in Alliance, Nebraska to parents Robert R. and Alice B. (Moran) Garett. She was raised and lived in many places before moving to Oregon in the early 1950s. She married John Wadkins in Soap Lake, Washington. They lived in The Dalles for several years and then moved throughout Oregon and Washington with different construction projects. They moved to Irrigon in 1975 and she has lived there since. She worked in the Irrigon fish hatchery part time for the last 15 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family, ceramics, sewing and gardening. Survivors include her daughter, Alice Stanley, Irrigon; sons, John J. Wadkins, Irrigon; James R. Wadkins, Alma, Arkansas; Robert Diehl, Sheridan (Oregon); a sister, Florence Cunningham, The Dalles; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1981. A private family service will be held.
