The Dalles Weekly Reminder, September 27, 1983
     Millie von Borstel, 90, a resident of The Dalles since 1957 and formerly 
a longtime resident of Grass Valley, died Sept. 20 at her home.
     She was born July 16, 1893 in Grass Valley.
     She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Grass Valley 
and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in The Dalles.
     Survivors include three sons, Donald, Carl and George von Borstel, all of 
Grass Valley; three daughters, Rita Swyers, Hood River, Marie Hattrup, Grass 
Valley, and Cassie DeCourcey, Gresham; 29 grandchildren, 13 great-
grandchildren, a brother, William Holmes, Lincoln City; and numerous nieces, 
nephews and cousins.
     Recitation of the rosary is tonight (Thursday), 7 p.m., at Smith Callaway 
Chapel and Mass of Christian Burial will be tomorrow (Friday), 2 p.m., at the 
IOOF Cemetery in Grass Valley.
     Memorials are suggested to the Senior Citizens Bus Fund in care of Smith 
Callaway Chapel.
