He was born November 6, 1917 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, the second of nine children to Oscar W. and Mabel M. (Doty) Vohs. He was raised in Minnesota and attended school until he was needed to work on the family farm. The family farm was sold and he worked as a general laborer in the Redwood Falls area. He then married Irene J. Jennings in Redwood Falls on August 13, 1938. They moved to Oregon in 1954 and he worked as a general laborer and for the Oregon Department of Transportation. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his four daughters; Ann Peterson, Tygh Valley; Virginia Griffith, Sandy, OR; Eva Hamilton, Sandy; and Vivian; his son; Roger Vohs; his 13 grandchildren; his 19 great grandchildren; his 2 sisters; Viola Davis, Alaska; Lily Swanson, Texas; and his brother; Barney Vohs, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his wife Irene J. Jennings in 1996. Graveside services will be held at Willamette National Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2005.
