The Dalles Chronicle, September 9, 2004
     Robert “Bob” Edward Vogel, 84, a lifelong resident of The Dalles, died at 
a fishing camp cabin on the TaWeel Lake near Little Fort, B.C., Canada on 
Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004. 
     He was born on March 22, 1920 in The Dalles, the younger of two children 
to Harry Edward and Gertrude (Roney) Vogel. He was raised in The Dalles, 
graduating in 1938 from The Dalles High School.
     After high school he worked for Hudson-Duncan Wholesale Groceries until 
entering the U.S. Army in 1942. After his discharge from the service he 
returned to the wholesale company, which later became Hudson House, then Cash 
& Carry, then United Grocery. He retired in 1983. 
     He was a member of The Dalles Elks Lodge and enjoyed traveling, the 
outdoors, and fishing. 
     He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Annabelle Agnes (Tatro) Vogel, 
whom he married in Lakeview, on Aug. 4, 1942; a sister Winifred and her 
husband Robert Seiss, Spokane; a brother-in-law, Lloyd and his wife Margaret 
Tatro, Lakeview; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 
his mother, father and a nephew.
     Viewing visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Spencer, 
Libby & Powell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, 
Sept. 13, at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Karl Vercouteren 
officiating. Mausoleum entombment will follow at the Cherry Heights Odd 
Fellows Cemetery.
     Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2120 First Ave. N, 
Seattle, WA 98109.
