She was born Aug. 1, 1931 in Centralia, Wash. She worked as a business manager for The Dalles Chronicle for 22 years. She was past president of Credit Women International in The Dalles; past president of The Dalles Soroptimists and served on the City Beautification Committee. She was a governor’s appointed committee member on a state project to plan a reporting system on poverty in the state and implement plans to be considered by his office. Her biography was entered in “Who’s Who of American Women.” Survivors include daughters Jacqueline (Tom) Westfall, Pahrump; Carol (Gerald) Huhta, Washington; and Teresa (Keith) Jallen, The Dalles; stepson, David Blankenship, Wakefield, Mass; sisters Carol (Ted) Oster, Centralia, and Shirley (Steve) Webb, Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylord Ross Vaughn, in 1988; and a daughter, Susan Ray, in 1956.
