     Carol Zulome (Bruce) Varrelman, 90, The Dalles, died at her home on 
Friday, Aug. 25.

     She was born in Jefferson County, Ala., the second of four girls to Fred 
S. and Mae Belle (Mason) Bruce. She grew up in New Orleans, and graduated from 
Girls Prep High School in New Orleans.

     She married Dr. Roderick Maurice Varrelman in Portland in 1946. She 
worked as an accounts receivable supervisor for White Stag and retired on July 
20, 1984. She lived in Portland from 1960-2003, then moved to The Dalles. She 
was a member of the organization ABWA and enjoyed gardening, public 
television, music and theater.

     She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Varrelman; two granddaughters, 
Katie Sheleny and her partner Robert Wagner and Julie Sheleny and her partner 
David Darnielle and one great-granddaughter, Lily Ann Sheleny all of The 
Dalles, Ore.

     A private family memorial will be held at a later date. 

     Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-Quatt Crematory with 
Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

     Memorial contributions may be made to Home at Last Animal Shelter, PO Box 
390, The Dalles, OR 97058 in honor of her Doxies Sissy and Gretel.
