The Dalles Weekly Reminder, June 14, 1984
     Ruth Vanover, 54, a former resident of The Dalles, died in Damascus 
Friday after a long illness.

     She was born May 6, 1930 in The Dalles to George and Emma Barker.  She 
attended The Dalles High School and graduated in 1947.  She had worked as a 
real estate salesman until retiring for health reasons.

     She is survived by her husband, Henry, of Battleground, whom she married 
on Jan. 19, 1949; four sons, George, Battleground; Leon, Aloha; Daniel, Forest 
Grove, and Douglas, Battleground; a daughter, Diana Armstrong, Richfield, 
Wash.; two brothers, Sam Barker, Trinidad, Colo., and Elmore Zurflueh, The 
Dalles; a sister, Rita Campbell, Damascus, and six grandchildren.

     Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday at The Dalles IOOF 
Cemetery.  Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
