Vanderpool, Oregon Pioneer, Dead (Daily of Sept. 19) William Turnage Vanderpool, 80-year-old Oregon pioneer, died at his home at Dufur, Sunday morning, September 18. Funeral plans have not been definitely completed pending word from relatives, although a tentative date has been set for Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Services will be held from the Dufur Methodist church with Rev. W.A. Briggs officiating. Interment will be in the Odd Fellows cemetery under the direction of C.R. Callaway & Son. William Turnage Vanderpool was born in Benton county, Oregon, December 8, 1852. In 1869 he moved with his parents to Prineville where he was married to Susan Vanderpool in 1972. Mr. and Mrs. Vanderpool continued to reside in Prineville until 1853 when they came to Dufur, where they had since made their home. They lived at different times on what are now the Chase dairy ranch and the M. Sigman place. In 1900 they retired from active farming and took up residence at Dufur. Surviving are the widow and five children: George and Tully of San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Oliva Moad of Nampa, Ida.; and Mrs. Eva Sigman and Floyd L. Vanderpool of Dufur. One son, Charles died in 1913.
