The Dalles Weekly Reminder, August 28, 1987
Martha Beryl VanBuren, a resident of The Dalles since 1936, died at a local 
nursing home Wednesday, August 19.  She was 86.

Mrs. VanBuren was born September 28, 1900, in Gaston, Ore., to William and 
Josephine (McNamer) Ritchey.  She was a member of First Congregational Church 
and a former member of the Soroptimist Club.  She and her husband operated the 
Buster Brown Shoe Store in The Dalles from 1937-67.  Afterwards she worked as 
a night clerk bookkeeper at the Tapadera Inn for a number of years. 

Her husband Frank died in 1959.  Their son preceded them in death.

She is suvived by four grandchildren:  Gene VanBuren of Dundee; Geoffrey 
VanBuren of Lafayette; James VanBuren of Portland; Susan VanBuren of Portland; 
and four great-grandchildren.

No public funeral services will be held.

Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
