The Dalles Weekly Reminder, August 4, 1995
Milt Tumilson, 74, a resident of The Dalles since 1957, died at his home July 
27, 1995, after a long illness.

He was born Nov. 22, 1920 in Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Jack and Mary 
Tumilson.  The family moved to Ponoka, Alberta, and Milt married his wife, 
Stella Tumilson, on May 15, 1943.  The Tumilsons came to The Dalles in 1957, 
where he owned and operated Milt's Service Station and Towing for many years.

He was a member and president of the Ft. Dalles Rodeo Association, Wasco Lodge 
No. 15 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Al Kader Temple, Eagles Aerie 2124, The 
Dalles Country Club, Lions Club and Ducks Unlimited.  It was during Milt's 
presidency in 1973-76 that the new arena project began; last April, the arena 
was named Milt Tumilson Arena in his honor.

Memorial services were July 31 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Rt. Rev. 
Rusty Kimsey officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ronald Maag and Rev. Jean 
McAfee.  Private family committal was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, with 
viewing visitation July 30 at Smith Callaway Chapel.

Survivors include Milt's son, Douglas, and his wife Barbara Tumilson; two 
grandchildren; and a sister, Ann Ferguson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella, in 1978.

Casket bearers were Wally Wolf, Jerry Frazier, Harvey Prouty, Alvin Clark, Joe 
LaFrenz and Neal Roberts.

Memorials:  Columbia Gorge Hospice or the Shriners Hospital for Crippled 
Children in care of Smith Callaway Chapel, 311 Union St., The Dalles.
