Wakley iwakley@msn.com June 1, 2006, 11:43 am The Dalles Chronicle, April 4, 2006 Milford Trapp, 80, a resident of The Dalles, died at a Portland Hospital on Saturday, April 1, 2006. He was born in Lorretta, Tenn., on March 6, 1926, the fifth of six children to Samuel J. and Addie E. (Snider) Trapp. His family settled in The Dalles when he was six years old and he attended The Dalles schools. Following his six year of military service in the U.S. Navy Seabees, he began working in the electrical industry, first as an apprentice, and then as a journeyman electrician. His electrical career spanned throughout the Northwest and Alaska. He married Anna L. May in The Dalles on Oct. 15, 1948. He was a 55-year member of IBEW Local 48, The Dalles Rod and Gun Club, Celilo Bowmen Archery Club, and Mid-Columbia Veterans Association. He was a Boy Scouts of America leader and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, mushroom hunting, and rock hounding. He is survived by his sons, Terry and his wife, Brenda, The Dalles; Steve and his wife, Nancy, Happy Valley; and Ron, Sandy; daughters, Vicky Trapp and her long-time companion, Bob Moles, Springfield; and Lisa Whedon and her husband, Harold, Portland; grandchildren, Michael Trapp, Christopher Trapp, Andrew Trapp, Molly Trapp, 1st Lt. Jennifer Trapp, Julie (Trapp) Ofstead and her husband, Heath, Jamelle Trapp, Amy Trapp, Dustin Trapp, Jarred Trapp, Shateva Yarington, Tiffany Yarington, Tabatha Yarington, Mandie Yarington, Jonathan Whedon, and Laura Whedon; great-grandchildren Ethan Trapp, Emma Yarington-Melton, and Rosilind Ofstead; sister, Sue Pratt and her husband, Vernon, The Dalles; and brother-in-law, Charlie May and his wife, Loye Ann, also of The Dalles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna, in 2003, one brother and three sisters. A public viewing will be held Thursday, April 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Spencer Libby & Powell Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 7, at 10 a.m. at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mid-Columbia Veterans, 700 Veterans Drive, The Dalles, OR 97058.
