The Dalles Chronicle, April 25, 2006
     Alice Dorothea Tranby, 90, a resident of The Dalles, died at the local 
hospital on Saturday, April 22, 2006.
     She was born in Donnybrook, N.D., on Aug. 19, 1915, the fourth of 10 
children to Peter C. and Ena M. (Olsen) Jorgenson. After school she married 
Mel Myers and after they moved to Seattle she started working in the 
shipyards. She married Harlan Henecke and then Mr. Tranby. She has lived in 
Oregon for the past 28 years. She was a member of The Dalles Christian Church 
and enjoyed card playing and watching television.
     She is survived by her sons, Allen Myers and Arthur Henecke, both of 
Minnesota; two brothers, Arthur Jorgenson of Nebraska and James Jorgenson of 
Texas; two sisters, May Cross of The Dalles and Nina Beckman of Nebraska; five 
grandchildren and numerous, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many extended 
friends and family. 
     She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Eileen Wier, her 
two brothers, Harold and Clyde and two sisters, Ida and Florance.
     Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-Quatt Crematory with 
Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
