The Dalles Weekly Reminder, October 11, 1984
     Herman Oliver Tooley, 64, died in Manchester, England, while visiting 
relatives.  He lived in The Dalles since 1958.
     He was born March 6, 1920 in Sand Lake, Ore.  He served in the Army Air 
Force in WWII.  He married Hylda Harlin in Manchester, England, Sept. 20, 
1943.  He worked in The Dalles for Martin Marietta until his retirement 
several years ago.
     He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
     He is survived by his wife Hylda Tooley, The Dalles; a son, David Tooley, 
Seattle, Wa.; 2 daughters, Hylda Jean Nations, Vancouver, Wa. and Mary Bonita 
Susan Cortright, Anchorage, Al.; 8 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Jim Tooley, Salt 
Lake City, Ut.; Bill Tooley, Portland and Bert Tooley, Elko, Nev.; 2 sisters, 
Loisa Ford, Grants Pass, and Elizabeth Harris, Hydesville, Ca.
     Funeral services were held at The Dalles Seventh-Day Adventist Church 
Wednesday, Oct. 3.  Pastor Charles Liu and Rev. Robert Letcher officiated.
     Burial followed at the Park Lawn Cemetery in The Dalles.  Pallbearers 
were Dave Cox, Ray Hoffman, Hugh Holte, Forrest Evans, Kenneth Lamb, and Eric 
Harlin.
     Memorials are suggested to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church memorial 
fund.  Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
