The Dalles Weekly Reminder, June 2, 1983
     James U. Thomas, 76, a resident of The Dalles since 1979, died Saturday 
at Mid-Columbia Medical Center.
     He was born July 17, 1906 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
     Mr. Thomas was a member of The Dalles Eagles.
     Survivors include a niece, Shirley Farmer, Pittsburgh; step-nieces and 
nephews, and a great-great grand niece, Debbie Klaviter, The Dalles.
     Graveside services were Tuesday at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery.  The Rev. 
Thornton Gapen officiated, and Spencer, Libby & Powell was in charge of 
arrangements. 
     Memorials are suggested to the Oregon Lung Association.
