The Dalles Chronicle, October 9, 2005
     Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Thomas, 84, a resident of The Dalles, died at her 
home Oct. 6, 2005.
     She was born Aug. 11, 1921, in Centralia, Wash., the fourth of five 
children to Robert E. Ford and Esther Ingham. She grew up in The Dalles and 
graduated high school in 1939.
     She married Marvin Spencer Thomas on May 31, 1941, in The Dalles. They 
lived in Wasco for 34 years. Four years following her husband’s death, she 
moved to The Dalles in 1979 where she lived for 26 years.
     She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, 4-H, baking and was a member of 
The Wasco Methodist Church and a member of Order of the Eastern Star. She was 
a wonderful grandmother, aunt and caring mother.
     She is survived by her children, James Conley Thomas, John Charles Thomas 
and his children Matt and Gretchen, Joseph Marvin Thomas and his children Amy 
Spencer and Tanya Burrill, Daniel Patrick Thomas, 2 great grandchildren and 
one on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews. 
     Viewing will be held from noon to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10 at Spencer, 
Libby and Powell Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Ave., in The Dalles. Family 
graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday Oct. 11, and a memorial 
service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at The Wasco Methodist 
Church in Wasco, with Pastor Robert Reasoner presiding. Spencer, Libby and 
Powell Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
     Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., 380 SE Spokane St. 
#110, Portland, Oregon 97202.
