Wakley iwakley@msn.com April 21, 2006, 2:38 pm The Dalles Chronicle, March 13, 2006 Juanda Lea Taylor, 75, a resident of Tygh Valley, died at a local hospital on Tuesday, March 7, 2006. She was born in Highland Park, Calif. on Dec. 6, 1930 to Luther C. and Juanita (Cornman) Gould. She lost her mother at the age of six. Her father was a minister who traveled church to church. At the age of 16 she and her father settled in Mill City. She attended high school and graduated. After graduating she met Sam Hayes and they were married on March 14, 1949 in Mill City. They moved to Prineville then Tygh Valley in 1952 where she raised her three sons. She lost her husband to a logging accident in 1969. On June 26, 1970 in Dufur, she married Jack Taylor, spending the next 35 years traveling and trapshooting with him all over Oregon and Washington. She was a homemaker and 4-H leader for many years. She loved to knit and read her Bible daily. She was a founder of White River Christian Fellowship Church where she attended regularly in Tygh Valley. She is survived by her husband Jack, Tygh Valley; her three sons and their wives, Ed and Dawn Hayes, Tygh Valley; Dan and Mary Hayes, Selah, Wash., and Larry and Darlene Hayes, Wamic; six grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; a sister Ruthie Arnold of Garland, Utah; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her friends of White River Christian Fellowship Church. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her first husband; a sister and her “poppa.” Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-Quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. A memorial service will be held at White River Christian Fellowship Church in Tygh Valley on March 19, 2006 at 1 p.m. with Asa Jenson officiating. Memorials may be made to White River Christian Fellowship Church in Tygh Valley.
