     Archie W. Swett was a lifelong resident of Dufur.

     He was born Sept. 7, 1909 at Dufur and passed away at Dufur on Friday, 
May 13, at age 78.

     He was a member of Dufur Christian Church, Ramsey Park Grange and was 
also active with the local Alzhheimer and cancer support groups. 

     Survivors include two daughters, Roselyn Angier of Portland; Melody 
Thompson of Buffalo, Wyo.; two sons, Victor Swett of the U.S. Navy, 
Charleston, S.C.; Stephen Swett of Buffalo, Wyo.; a brother, Stanley Swett of 
Wasco; two sisters, Annie Godknecht of The Dalles and Ada Tidwell of Dufur; 12 
grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

     Funeral services will be at the Dufur Christian Church on Wednesday, May 
18, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Asa Jenson and Rev. Jack Hart officiating.  
Interment will be at the Dufur Community Cemetery. 

     Memorials may be made to the Dufur Christian Church, Living Each Day 
Cancer Support Group or the Alzheimers Disorders Foundation in care of 
Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home.  Mr. Swett will lie-in-state Tuesday 
until 8 p.m.
