The Dalles Chronicle, October 19, 2005
     Thomas F. Sumner, 78, died at a Portland hospital on Oct. 15.
     He was born May 15, 1927 in Prineville. He graduated from Mitchell High 
School and served in the U.S. Marines.
     He married Phyllis Wickland in 1947 and soon after began ranching south 
of Arlington.
     Survivors include his wife; daughter, Rita Kruse; sons, Craig and Mark; 
sister, Laura Krenk; brothers, Jim and Jay; five grandchildren and one great-
grandchild.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, Cal and Jerry; a sister, Jeanne 
Hansen and a brother, Jack.
     A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at 
Arlington Cemetery.
     Memorials may be made to Arlington Nazarene Church building fund.
