The Dalles Chronicle, November 26, 2003
     Henry “Hank” Detlef Struck, Jr., 74, a resident of Rufus, died in an auto 
accident on Interstate 84 near Biggs Junction on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003.
     He was born April 30, 1929 in Winner, S.D., the oldest of three children 
to Henry Detlef and Florence Struck. 
     He grew up in Worley, Idaho and married Joyce Johnson of Worley on July 
15, 1951 in Superior, Mont. They were later divorced.
     He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict then worked heavy 
construction as a sandblaster-painter. He worked on dams including the Grand 
Coulee, John Day, Bonneville and The Dalles dams on the Columbia River.
     He enjoyed sports, basketball, country music, traveling in his RV, 
working on cars and fixing things. 
     He was a member of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the 
International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.
     He is survived by children, Clayton Struck, New Orleans, La.; Cynthia and 
husband, Larry Marchant, Home Valley, Wash.; and Myron and wife, Sheila 
Struck, Vancouver, Wash.; granddaughter, Shelly and husband Jason Hoyt, 
Spokane.
     At his request, no public funeral services will be held. 
     Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with 
Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
     Remembrances may be made to a charity of choice.
