The Dalles Weekly Reminder, November 22, 1984
     Bertha Stovall, 99, died in a local nursing home Nov. 16.  She resided in 
Maupin since 1915.

     She was born Oct. 7, 1885 in Lacona, Iowa.

     Survivors include a son, Estel, Maupin; three granddaughters, Sara 
Larson, Corvallis; Sally Havig, White Salmon, Wash.; and Susan Carlson, 
Ashland; and a sister Lorraine Woodside, The Dalles.

     At Mrs. Stovall's request, no funeral service will be held.  Private 
cremation was in Portland.

     Smith Callaway Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
