He was born in the small farming community of Gooch, Ore. The Stoltnow family ranch was just outside of Condon. As was often the case at the time, he only received an 8th grade education. But after his marriage he went to trade school and became a mechanic. He found work with Hulden Motor Company and International Harvester for over 20 years. When the town of Arlington was moved because of the building of the John Day Dam many jobs were lost. He went to college and received a degree in order to take the position of city superintendent of Arlington. That position was held until his retirement in 1975. He married Pearl Stoltnow, who died in Lake Havasu, Ariz., in 1986. He is survived by his younger sister Ellen Lyublanovits of Golden Shores, Ariz., and only child Ann Loyd of Gold Canyon, Ariz. Graveside services were performed in Parker, Ariz., on June 29, where he was laid to rest along side his wife of 45 years.
