Wakley iwakley@msn.com June 2, 2006, 2:07 am The Dalles Chronicle, April 27, 2006 Bonnie Belle Stinson, 79, a resident of The Dalles, died Monday, April 24, 2006 at a local hospital. She was born in Marion, Kan., on Aug. 31, 1926, the youngest child of four to Casper and Florence L. (Simmons) Hett. She grew up in Sunnyside, Wash., where she graduated high school. During her youth she won many awards for her flute solos and duets. She married Stan Stinson in December 1945 in Seattle. They moved to The Dalles in 1955 and later divorced. In 1975 she transferred to Portland with First Interstate Bank. After retiring in 1988 she moved to Anacortes, Wash., then settled in The Dalles in 1996 to be near family and friends. She worked in the banking industry and held many positions until her retirement, the last as an auditor. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends, gardening, embroidering, playing bunko and watching many reality TV shows. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Nesta and husband Santiago, The Dalles; her son, Ron Stinson and wife Barbara, Bend; two grandsons, Jason Nesta, The Dalles; and Jacob Stinson, Redondo Beach, Calif.; granddaughter, Jennifer Kumm and husband Brett, Tigard; great-granddaughter, Kayla Kumm, Tigard; sister, Beth Mack, Mt. Vernon, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert Hett, and sister, Glenice Schultz. A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 6, at 2 p.m. at the Cherry Heights Retirement Community, 910 Cherry Heights Rd., The Dalles. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-Quatt Crematory, with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Lifeworks Comfort Care, in care of Mid Columbia Medical Center, 1700 E. 19th St., The Dalles, OR 97058.
