The Dalles Weekly Chronicle, February 26, 1982
     Anton Sterr, 88, a resident of The Dalles for the last 20 years, died at 
the local hospital Feb. 23.
     He was born March 20, 1893 in Steinbeck, Germany.
     Mr. Sterr was a brick mason at Camas Paper Mill for 20 years, before 
moving to The Dalles where he worked for Harvey Aluminum until he retired 12 
years ago.
     He and his wife, Signid, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary last 
fall.
     Survivors include his wife, Sigid Sterr, The Dalles; three daughters, 
Annie Ross, Portland; Mary Hargrove, San Diego, Calif.; and Tillie Hull, 
Packwood, Wash.; one stepson, Dr. Milton Scov., The Dalles; 12 grandchildren, 
19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Anastasia 
in Germany.
     No public funeral services were performed.
     Memorials are suggested to The Dalles Ambulance Fund in care of The City 
of The Dalles.  Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home is in charge of 
arrangements.
