She was born June 12, 1894 in Montague, Mich. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and was a graduate of the University of Michigan. She had been active in the League of Women Voters and the AAUW for 50 years. Mrs. Stanton was a former teacher and medical adjustor for the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. Survivors include two daughters, Lucie McCoy, The Dalles, and Mary South, Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Tom McCoy, Wasco; Paul McCoy, Washington, D.C.; Molly Leow, Singapore; Stanton South, Chicago; Marcia Jacroux, Pullman, Wash.; Casey and Mark South, Denver; and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband, Franklin Stanton, died in 1972. Private graveside services were held Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery with the Rev. Martin Quigley officiating. Memorials may be made to the St. Peter Catholic Church building fund or charity. Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
