Spencer, 89, a resident of Corbett, where she lived with her daughter, and a former resident of Wasco and The Dalles, died in a Gresham nursing home April 1. She was born in Marshfield, Wis., June 30, 1894. She lived in Wasco from 1915 to 1941 and in The Dalles from 1941 to 1982. She was a member of Dufur Christian Church; Pythian Sisters, of which she served as secretary for many years; the Neighbors of Woodcraft and Azalea Rebekah Lodge. Survivors include a son, Arthur Spencer, Eugene; three daughters; Mrs. Allan (Ruth) Baker, Corbett; Mrs. Harry (Idabelle) McNutt, Coupeville, Wash.; and Mrs. Evelyn Burtner, Nehalem; a sister, Ruth Reed, Bremerton, Wash.; a brother, Ross Harding, Seattle; 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Wilfred A. Spencer, died earlier. Funeral services were Wednesday at Smith Callaway Chapel with Pastor Asa Jenson officiating. Private Mausoleum entombment followed at the Memorial Mausoleum at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery. The family asks that contributions be made to favorite charities in Mrs. Spencer's honor.
